Staff Baltimore Business Journal The prestigious Breeders' Cup, created as a roving championship of thoroughbred racing, announced this week it would return to California's Santa Anita Park in 2014 for a third consecutive year, the Baltimore Sun reported. Santa Anita is owned by the Stronach Group, which also owns Pimlico and Laurel, prompting The Sun to ask the question: "Could the Breeders' Cup ever come to Baltimore?" noting that the "annual world series of thoroughbred racing has strong ties" with the Pimlico Race Course owners.
