But Bank of America decided to try something different this week, reaching for the art on its walls instead. The bank planned to auction off six paintings June 5 by California artists, including living artists Wayne Thiebaud and Deborah Oropallo. The bank said Sotheby’s and SFMOMA Director Neal Benezra were set to discuss the importance of the artists and their works, as well as acting as auctioneer.
